Peter Obi Denies Rejecting Atiku’s Running Mate Offer

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has dismissed reports that he rejected an offer to serve as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi described the reports as inaccurate, saying he had neither been offered the position nor turned down any such proposal.

The former Anambra State governor’s denial comes amid growing political realignments and negotiations among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speculation over a possible Atiku-Obi ticket has intensified in recent weeks as opposition parties and political leaders explore possible alliances aimed at presenting a formidable challenge to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, Obi’s latest clarification appears to put to rest claims that he had been approached to serve as Atiku’s running mate and subsequently declined the offer.
