Yari: No Tinubu Rival Has 10% of His Qualities

ABUJA — Former Zamfara State governor and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari has said none of the politicians seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election possesses “10 per cent” of the president’s qualities.

Yari made the remark while commenting on the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election, according to a statement circulating on Thursday.

“None of his rivals has 10 per cent of his qualities,” Yari was quoted as saying.

The senator, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), cited Tinubu’s political experience and leadership record in making the comparison, although he did not provide a specific assessment of the president’s potential challengers.

His comments come against the backdrop of intensifying political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition parties and political groups exploring alliances aimed at mounting a stronger challenge to the APC.

Tinubu, elected president in 2023, is expected to seek a second term in office, while several opposition figures have indicated their intention to contest or are involved in discussions over a possible coalition.

Yari’s remarks are likely to add to the political debate over Tinubu’s standing within the APC and the strength of the opposition ahead of the next presidential election.
