Borno, Zamfara, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Kogi Strengthen School Security as Students Resume
State governments and security agencies across the country are stepping up measures to protect schools and pupils as academic activities resume, with Borno, Zamfara, Imo, Akwa Ibom and Kogi among states announcing enhanced security arrangements.

Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Edo, Benue Record Majority of Lassa Fever Cases
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has identified Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Edo and Benue as the five states accounting for the majority of reported Lassa fever cases in 2026.
The NCDC said the five states account for about 86 per cent of reported cases so far this year, highlighting the need for stronger surveillance, early diagnosis and rapid response.
