APC Restricts Ministers, Appointees to Campaign Rallies in Home States Ahead of 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has directed ministers, political appointees and members of the council to attend only campaign rallies organised in their respective home states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The directive, contained in a circular signed by Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the PCC, outlines the council’s approach to mobilising party supporters and coordinating campaign activities across the country.

According to the circular, the rallies are designed to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts and communicate the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to voters.

The restriction appears aimed at ensuring that party officials and government appointees concentrate their mobilisation efforts within their respective states, potentially enhancing local participation and improving coordination among party stakeholders.

The directive comes as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC expected to consolidate its support base and communicate its administration’s policy achievements to Nigerians.

Ministers and political appointees are expected to play a significant role in the party’s campaign mobilisation, particularly in engaging constituents and highlighting the Federal Government’s programmes and policies.

The circular did not specify whether exceptions would be granted for national campaign events or other activities requiring the participation of officials outside their home states.

The Analyst will continue to monitor developments surrounding the APC’s campaign strategy and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
