Tinubu Reaffirms Nigeria Commitment After Ka’abah Visit; Pate Prays for Prosperity, Dino Melaye Issues Qur’an Challenge

TINUBU SPEAKS FROM THE HEART AFTER ENTERING KA’ABAH, PLEDGES RENEWED COMMITMENT TO NIGERIA; PATE PRAYS FOR NATIONAL PROSPERITY AS DINO MELAYE ISSUES QUR’ANIC RECITATION CHALLENGE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria, investing in the future of young people and pursuing national development, following his spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj (Umrah), during which he was granted the rare privilege of entering the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah.

The President made the declaration on Monday while reflecting on his spiritual experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he and members of his Nigerian delegation were allowed to enter the sacred structure and offer prayers to Almighty Allah.

In a statement issued on November 2, 2026, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency disclosed that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman facilitated the historic opportunity.

Sheikh Dahlulah Muthawal of Masjid al-Haram led the President into the Ka’abah.

President Tinubu expressed profound gratitude to the Saudi royal family, describing the experience as a historic and deeply cherished spiritual honour that further demonstrated the longstanding friendship and mutual respect between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

“I want to say a big thank you for the faith, for the recognition. I can't believe the fencing of the Ka’abah is in Green-White-Green, which reminds us of the Nigerian identity,” the President said.

He also thanked the Saudi authorities for the hospitality and recognition accorded to him as Nigeria's leader and head of the delegation.

“It is an honour that I enjoyed, and it is gracious of them to have allowed me to enter inside the Ka’abah. This is history,” he stated.

TINUBU SEEKS WISDOM AND RESILIENCE TO SERVE NIGERIANS

Reflecting on the prayers he offered inside the Holy Ka’abah, President Tinubu disclosed that he specifically sought divine wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians.

“Well, I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted,” he said.

The President recalled that he had made similar prayers before the 2023 presidential election, promising to return to express gratitude to Almighty Allah if his prayers were answered.

He further reflected on the message in Surah Aal-Imran, verse 26 of the Holy Qur’an, which establishes that Almighty Allah is the ultimate owner of sovereignty, granting power and authority to whom He wills and taking them away from whom He wills.

According to Tinubu, the lesson underscores the temporary nature of political power and the responsibility of leaders to exercise authority with humility, accountability and a commitment to the welfare of the people.

“There is no other God but Almighty Allah. He is the giver and the taker. He owns power and authority,” the President said.

He described his emergence as Nigeria's President and Commander-in-Chief as an extraordinary blessing from God, which must be justified through dedicated service to the country.

“Out of many millions of people, to be the President and Commander-in-Chief is a favour that only Almighty God can do to a human being,” he added.

‘MY COMMITMENT TO PROJECT NIGERIA IS HIGHER’

President Tinubu declared that his spiritual experience had further strengthened his determination to pursue national development and economic prosperity.

“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher. I am determined to usher in prosperity and fully develop the country, consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to put God first, follow their conscience and remain committed to the right path towards national greatness.

“It is important to put Allah first, then move on. Follow your conscience. Follow the right path that will lead Nigeria to that greatness,” he stated.

TINUBU SAYS ECONOMY HAS EMERGED FROM ‘DARK TUNNEL’

Speaking on the country's economic situation, the President expressed optimism about the direction of the economy under his administration, describing its foundation as solid.

“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” he said.

He, however, emphasised the importance of investing in young Nigerians, noting that the decisions taken by today's leaders would determine how future generations remember them.

“We need to build a future for our youth. If we don't invest in their future, how do we want to be remembered as leaders 50 years from now?” the President asked.

He reiterated his administration's commitment to strengthening the economy, expanding opportunities for young people and creating an environment in which Nigerians could realise their potential.

PATE PRAYS FOR NIGERIA, SEEKS DIVINE INTERVENTION AND PROSPERITY

Also participating in the spiritual gathering was the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, who joined the President and other members of the Nigerian delegation in expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for the rare opportunity to enter the Holy Ka’abah.

Prof. Pate offered prayers for Nigeria, seeking divine intervention to help the country overcome its numerous challenges and attain lasting peace, stability and prosperity.

The minister prayed for God's guidance upon Nigeria's leadership and the nation as a whole, expressing hope for a brighter future characterised by improved citizens' welfare, national development and economic progress.

His prayers reflected the broader aspirations of Nigerians for divine assistance in addressing the country's security, economic and social challenges.

FAGBEMI, GOVERNORS AND BUSINESS LEADERS EXPRESS GRATITUDE

Other prominent members of the Nigerian delegation were also reportedly moved by the spiritual experience.

Among them were the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; and governors of Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara states.

Prominent business figures, including Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Isiaka Rabiu, and Oando Chief Executive Officer, Wale Tinubu, also expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and the President for the opportunity to enter the sacred structure and offer prayers.

The gathering brought together political leaders, government officials and captains of industry in what the Presidency described as a deeply cherished spiritual experience.

DINO MELAYE CHALLENGES TINUBU TO QUR’ANIC RECITATION CONTEST

Meanwhile, former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has thrown a challenge to President Tinubu, inviting him to return to Nigeria and compete with him in a Holy Qur’an recitation contest.

Melaye reportedly made the challenge in a post on his Facebook page, boasting that he could recite the Holy Qur’an better than the President.

The former lawmaker's challenge introduced a political dimension to conversations surrounding Tinubu's spiritual journey and his experience inside the Holy Ka’abah.

Known for his outspoken criticism of the Tinubu administration, Melaye has frequently used social media to express his views on the President and the state of the nation.

His latest challenge has drawn attention to the intersection of religion and political discourse, although the substance of the proposed recitation contest remains a personal challenge rather than an established measure of either man's religious knowledge.

A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE AGAINST THE BACKDROP OF NATIONAL CHALLENGES

President Tinubu's reflections come at a time when Nigerians continue to grapple with economic pressures, insecurity, unemployment and other longstanding national challenges.

While the President expressed confidence in the economic direction of his administration and pledged renewed commitment to national development, the expectations of citizens remain centred on tangible improvements in living standards, security, employment and access to essential services.

For millions of Nigerians, the prayers offered by the President and members of his delegation represent a hope for divine intervention, responsible leadership and a more prosperous country.

The President concluded by expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to lead Nigeria, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him through purposeful leadership and sustained commitment to national progress.
