Atiku Pledges to Tackle Insecurity, Ease Economic Hardship Ahead of 2027 Election
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to tackle insecurity, restore hope to Nigerians and make the country more affordable if elected president in the 2027 general election.
Atiku made the pledge as he intensified efforts to mobilise support for his presidential ambition, positioning his proposed administration as an alternative to the current government’s approach to security and economic management.
The former vice-president said his campaign would focus on addressing the challenges of insecurity, hunger and rising living costs, which continue to place significant pressure on households and businesses across the country.
He also promised to restore confidence in Nigeria’s future, particularly among young people, many of whom face growing concerns over unemployment, economic uncertainty and limited opportunities.
Atiku described his campaign as a movement to rescue the country, calling on Nigerians to unite behind his vision for national renewal.
“The journey to rescue Nigeria begins here. Together, we will win,” he said.
Security and Economic Recovery at the Forefront
The pledge places security and economic recovery at the centre of Atiku’s emerging campaign agenda ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Nigeria continues to face persistent security challenges, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and communal violence in several parts of the country. At the same time, rising food prices, transportation costs and other essential expenses have intensified the economic difficulties confronting millions of citizens.
Atiku has previously advocated measures aimed at strengthening security agencies, reducing the cost of living and improving Nigerians’ purchasing power.
His latest commitments are expected to feature prominently in the ADC’s broader campaign messaging as political parties prepare to present their policy proposals and compete for public support.
However, the former vice-president’s pledges will be subject to public scrutiny, particularly regarding the specific policies, funding arrangements and implementation strategies through which his proposed administration intends to achieve them.
With the 2027 general election approaching, Nigerians are expected to assess presidential candidates not only on their promises but also on the credibility, feasibility and measurable outcomes of their proposed programmes.
For Atiku, the challenge will be to translate his campaign pledges into a clear, practical and accountable programme capable of addressing the country’s pressing security and economic concerns.
