Lawal Daura: Those Planning to Rig 2027 Elections Have a Surprise Coming
By The Analyst

Vice-presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Lawal Daura, has warned political actors planning to manipulate the 2027 general elections that Nigerians will resist any attempt to subvert the electoral process.

Daura said the 2027 election must be won through the votes of Nigerians and not through electoral manipulation, intimidation or other practices capable of undermining the democratic will of the people.

He issued the warning on Tuesday at the launch of the National Campaign Management Committee (NCMC) of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO).

The APM vice-presidential candidate said the emergence of the committee marked the beginning of a new phase in the party's campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, the campaign organisation would mobilise Nigerians around the country while ensuring that the party's message reaches voters at the grassroots.

Daura maintained that political power should be secured through genuine popular support rather than manipulation of electoral procedures.

He warned those who may be preparing to influence the outcome of the 2027 elections through illicit means that such plans would face strong resistance.

“Those who are planning to rig the 2027 elections have a surprise coming,” Daura said, stressing that the APM would remain vigilant throughout the electoral process.

He said the party would continue to engage Nigerians and build support based on its political programme and the credibility of its candidates.

The warning comes amid growing political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties and emerging political movements intensifying efforts to challenge the established political order.

The launch of the NCMC is expected to strengthen the organisational structure of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation as the campaign gradually gathers momentum ahead of the elections.

With political parties already positioning themselves for the 2027 contest, concerns over electoral credibility, vote manipulation and the independence of institutions responsible for conducting elections are expected to remain central issues in the coming political season.

For the APM, Daura's message was clear: the party intends to contest the 2027 election aggressively and expects the votes of Nigerians to determine the eventual winner.
