2027: ADC Warns Members Against Inflammatory Statements, Unnecessary Litigation, Sabotage

By Umar Usman Duguri

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned its members against conduct capable of undermining the unity, stability and internal peace of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party, in a warning to its members and supporters, specifically frowned upon inflammatory statements, unnecessary litigation, acts of sabotage and other activities capable of creating divisions or disrupting its political structures.

The ADC stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and responsible engagement as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify, urging members to channel grievances and disagreements through the appropriate internal mechanisms.

According to the party, the growing political significance of the ADC places a greater responsibility on its members to protect the organisation from avoidable internal conflicts and actions that could weaken its cohesion.

The party further urged members to exercise restraint in their public statements, particularly on issues capable of generating tension or misrepresenting the position of the organisation.

It also warned against resorting to litigation over matters that could be resolved internally, stressing that unnecessary legal battles could distract the party from its broader political objectives.

The ADC called on its members to prioritise the collective interest of the party above individual ambitions and differences, while respecting the party’s constitution, leadership structures and established procedures for resolving disputes.

It maintained that legitimate concerns and grievances would continue to receive appropriate attention through the party’s internal processes, provided members remain committed to constructive dialogue and peaceful resolution of disagreements.

The party also cautioned against sabotage, describing deliberate actions aimed at weakening its structures, programmes or electoral preparations as unacceptable and potentially damaging to its collective interests.

The ADC urged all members to remain focused, united and committed to the task of building a credible political platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

The warning comes amid increasing political realignments and heightened activities by political parties across Nigeria as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

The party said the success of its political project would depend largely on the ability of its members to maintain unity, discipline and organisational cohesion while working towards their shared objectives.
