Kenneth Okonkwo Launches Fresh Verbal Attack on Peter Obi, Questions Leadership Qualities.
By The Analyst
A fresh war of words has erupted between former allies, Kenneth Okonkwo and Peter Obi, with the actor-turned-politician describing the former Anambra State governor as "classless, uncharismatic, with little knowledge and zero depth" in his latest criticism of the 2027 presidential hopeful.
Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former spokesperson for Obi's 2023 presidential campaign, made the remarks amid the deepening political and legal dispute between both men.
The latest comments come after months of public disagreements that followed their political separation, with both figures exchanging accusations over leadership, internal party affairs and the direction of Nigeria's opposition politics.
The rift has since escalated into a legal battle after Obi initiated a defamation suit against Okonkwo over earlier allegations made during a television interview. Obi is seeking billions of naira in damages, insisting the claims made against him are false, malicious and damaging to his reputation.
However, Okonkwo has maintained that he stands by his statements and has repeatedly declared that he will not retract his remarks, arguing that his comments were made in the public interest.
The exchange has generated widespread debate across Nigeria's political landscape, with supporters of both politicians expressing divergent views on social media and other public platforms.
Political analysts say the public feud underscores the growing divisions within the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections, raising questions about the prospects of a united front against the ruling party.
Neither Obi nor his media team had publicly responded specifically to Okonkwo's latest description at the time of filing this report. However, the ongoing court proceedings are expected to determine the legal implications of the broader dispute between the two former associates.
