Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Resigns, Cites Concerns Over Working Relationship
By The Analyst News Desk
Hon. Abba Aliyu Tilde, Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has tendered his resignation from the senator’s office, citing concerns over communication, recognition of his role and the state of their working relationship.
In a resignation letter dated September 6, 2026, and addressed to Senator Shehu Buba, Tilde said his resignation was effective immediately.
The aide stated that his decision followed what he described as a difficult period in which he had served with dedication, loyalty and commitment, while making efforts to support the senator’s work.
According to the letter, a major source of his dissatisfaction was an alleged recent visit by the senator to his ward, during which a meeting was reportedly held with people from the area without prior notification or communication to him.
Tilde described the incident as “deeply disrespectful and hurtful,” arguing that, given his position and connection to the people of the ward, he believed he should have been informed and involved.
He further said the incident was part of what he described as other experiences in which he felt ignored despite his continued efforts in the service of the senator.
“I cannot continue in a position where I feel there is little regard for my contributions or for the relationship between us,” he stated in the letter.
Tilde said he believes effective working relationships, particularly in political and public service, should be built on mutual respect, communication, trust and recognition of one another’s roles.
He therefore described his resignation as, in his view, “the most honourable decision” under the circumstances.
Despite his grievances, the former aide expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve as Senior Legislative Aide and for the experience and lessons gained during his tenure.
He also wished Senator Shehu Buba success in his continued service and future endeavours.
The resignation letter, however, represents Tilde’s account of the circumstances leading to his decision. No response from Senator Shehu Buba or his office was contained in the document made available to The Analyst Online Media.
It remains unclear whether the senator’s office has formally responded to the resignation or offered its own account of the issues raised by the former aide.
The Analyst Online Media will publish any response from Senator Shehu Buba or his representatives if and when it is made available.
