El-Rufai Family Gives Defence Minister Seven Days to Prove Killing Allegation or Retract
Family threatens legal action over claim that former Kaduna governor planned killings in Southern Kaduna
The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has demanded that Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), provide evidence backing his allegation that the former governor actively planned killings in Southern Kaduna while in office.

According to the statement, General Musa made the allegation on September 3, 2026, during a live edition of Politics Today on Channels Television.
The family noted that the Defence Minister did not present evidence during the broadcast to substantiate the allegation.
“While General Musa (Rtd.) is entitled to hold and express his personal opinions, the El-Rufai family is equally entitled to demand that such serious allegations be substantiated with credible evidence,” the statement said.
The family has consequently issued the retired general a seven-day ultimatum to either produce evidence supporting his allegation or publicly retract it and apologise.
“In the absence of such evidence, we call on him to publicly retract the allegation through the same medium on which it was made,” the family stated.
It added: “Accordingly, General Musa (Rtd.) is hereby given seven (7) days from the date of this statement to either provide evidence in support of his allegation or issue a full public retraction and apology.”
The family warned that failure to comply with the demand would compel it to seek legal redress.
“Failure to do so will leave the family with no option but to pursue all appropriate legal remedies available under the law in response to these unsubstantiated allegations,” the statement said.
