President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country’s economic recovery, saying his administration is correcting what he described as accumulated mistakes and missed opportunities of previous governments.
Represented by House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas at a special Juma’at prayer in Abuja, Tinubu said Nigeria was on the right path and appealed for more time to complete ongoing reforms.

Nigeria is facing renewed cost-of-living pressure as petrol prices have climbed sharply amid higher international crude prices linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Reuters reported earlier this week that petrol was selling at about ₦1,400 per litre in Lagos and Abuja and as high as ₦1,500 in parts of northern Nigeria, while diesel had exceeded ₦2,000 per litre.
The development has intensified debate over the effects of fuel-market reforms and the vulnerability of Nigerian consumers to movements in global oil prices.
Bauchi Police Arrest Suspects Over Alleged Gun Fabrication, Rape
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with separate alleged offences involving illegal possession and fabrication of firearms and rape.
According to reports citing the command, the arrests form part of ongoing intelligence-led operations against criminal activities in the state. The allegations remain subject to investigation and due process.
The development follows the command’s disclosure that dozens of suspects had been arrested in September over various alleged offences, including kidnapping, armed robbery, homicide, sexual offences, drug trafficking and theft.
Bauchi Health Board Raises Concern Over Unplanned Pregnancies
The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, has raised concern over unplanned pregnancies in the state.
Speaking during a media briefing to mark World Contraception Day, Mohammed said unplanned pregnancies were reportedly more common among married women than unmarried women in Bauchi, while urging couples to make informed reproductive-health decisions.
NANS Inspects Jama’are–Azare, Potiskum–Maiduguri Roads
The National Association of Nigerian Students has commenced its North-East phase of a nationwide assessment of federal road projects.
NANS inspected the Jama’are–Azare and Potiskum–Maiduguri corridors in Bauchi State, highlighting their importance to students travelling to institutions including the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, Bauchi State University and Aminu Saleh College of Education.
The students’ body said its inspection found the projects completed and improving movement in the affected areas, while promising to publish wider findings and recommendations from the nationwide exercise.
Isa Yuguda Alive, Associates Dismiss Death Rumours
Reports circulating on social media claiming that former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda had died have been dismissed by associates of the former governor.
Two associates reportedly described the claims as false and said Yuguda was alive and in good health.
The development highlights once again the danger of unverified death reports circulating through social media.
Nigeria Pushes For UN Security Council Reform
Nigeria has renewed its call for reform of the United Nations system as world leaders deliberate at the 81st UN General Assembly.
