Atiku Unveils ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Names El-Rufai Deputy Chairman
ABUJA — The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has constituted his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, appointing former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as Deputy Chairman.
Kashim Ibrahim-Imam has been appointed Chairman of the council, while former presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen will chair the Policy Team.
The appointments were announced on Thursday by Phrank Shaibu, Atiku's media aide, in a statement outlining the structure and membership of the campaign council.
The council brings together politicians, policy experts, media professionals and other stakeholders as the ADC begins preparations for the presidential election.
El-Rufai's appointment places the former Kaduna governor in a senior position within the campaign's leadership structure, with responsibility as Deputy Chairman under Ibrahim-Imam.
Hayatu-Deen, who was also a presidential aspirant during the ADC's nomination process, has been assigned to lead the Policy Team, which will focus on the campaign's policy direction and key programme areas.
The campaign structure is organised around specialised directorates and teams responsible for areas including policy, media and communications, mobilisation and other campaign operations.
The announcement represents a further step in the ADC's preparations for the 2027 presidential contest, following the emergence of Atiku as the party's presidential candidate.
The campaign is expected to use the coming months to strengthen its organisational structures and articulate its policy agenda ahead of the election.
The 2027 presidential election is expected to feature a competitive field of candidates and political platforms, with parties and political alliances already positioning themselves ahead of the campaign season.
