Among the administration's notable achievements has been the successful accreditation of programmes across a broad range of disciplines, including Administration, Agriculture, Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Law, Education, and the Sciences. These accreditations affirm that the University has satisfied nationally recognised benchmarks relating to curriculum content, staffing, infrastructure, laboratories, governance, library resources, and teaching quality.
The momentum continued in the first half of 2026, when six additional academic programmes secured full accreditation. Beyond satisfying regulatory requirements, these achievements reinforce confidence among students, parents, employers, and the wider public that degrees awarded by Sa'adu Zungur University meet nationally accepted academic standards.
In an increasingly competitive higher education environment, accreditation represents more than an administrative exercise; it serves as independent validation of institutional quality. It also enhances the University's reputation, broadens opportunities for graduates, and strengthens its capacity to attract talented students and academic staff from across Nigeria.
Expanding Academic Opportunities for a Changing World
A defining feature of Professor Fatimah Tahir's administration has been its deliberate expansion of academic offerings to reflect evolving national priorities and global trends.
The introduction of Higher National Diploma (HND)-to-Bachelor of Science conversion programmes, specialised certificate courses, professional diploma programmes, new postgraduate degrees, and twelve additional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes illustrates a forward-looking strategy designed to widen access to higher education while addressing emerging professional needs.
Among the newly approved programmes are Social Work, Sharia, Educational Management, postgraduate Law, postgraduate Sociology, Doctor of Business Administration, Molecular Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Translation Studies, International Relations, and Public Policy. Collectively, these programmes broaden educational opportunities for students and professionals while aligning the University's academic portfolio with developments in healthcare, governance, public administration, law, diplomacy, social policy, and scientific research.
The diversification of academic programmes reflects a recognition that modern universities must continuously adapt to changing labour market demands. By introducing disciplines that respond to contemporary national and global challenges, Sa'adu Zungur University is strengthening its relevance and positioning itself to contribute more effectively to Nigeria's long-term development agenda.
