Bashir El-Rufai Says He Keeps Guns, Knives at Bedside in Deleted X Posts

Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has disclosed that he keeps guns and knives at his bedside, in a series of posts on X that have since been deleted.
Bashir made the remarks on Saturday during a heated exchange concerning his brother, Bello El-Rufai, the lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The exchange centred on Bello’s recent political activities, with Bashir criticising what he described as his brother’s continued alignment with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who succeeded their father as governor.
Bashir accused Bello of abandoning the family while maintaining his political association with the governor.
In one of the deleted posts, Bashir also alleged that Bello had previously told him to “kill yourself”, further escalating the public disagreement between the siblings.
The disclosure about weapons at his bedside attracted attention because of its reference to firearms and knives. However, Bashir did not, in the posts referenced, indicate that he had used the weapons against anyone or that there was an immediate threat to another person.
The posts have since been deleted from X.
The public exchange adds another dimension to an increasingly visible political and personal disagreement involving members of the El-Rufai family, whose political influence has remained significant in Kaduna and beyond.
Bello El-Rufai, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), currently represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Bashir, who is active on social media, has also been outspoken on political issues and has previously commented on matters involving his family and Nigerian politics.
